When Prince Harry and Meghan Markle retired from their royal responsibilities and relocated to sunny California, leaving Britain behind, the late Queen Elizabeth requested that they refrain from using the name Sussex Royal because they were no longer working royals.
At the time, their Instagram profile and website were called Sussex Royals, and after the birth of their son Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor in 2019, they began using the name “Archewell” for their website and production company as a tribute to their first child.

However, after King Charles’ coronation, they chose to change Archie and Lili’s names and use the surname Sussex for both of them.
Prince Harry was given the Sussex title on the day of his wedding to Meghan Markle in May 2018.
When Archie was born, he was not awarded a royal title since a tradition prohibited titles from being conferred beyond the monarch’s grandchildren, with the exception of those born to the immediate heir to the throne.
However, upon Queen Elizabeth’s death and King Charles’ accession to the throne, Archie and Lili were bestowed the titles of Prince and Princess, which their parents decided their children would use.

Mindy Kaling, the star of The Office, recently referred to the Duchess by her maiden name, Markle, which the Duchess quickly corrected.
“You keep saying Meghan Markle, you know, I’m Sussex now,” she explained. “You have kids and say, ‘Now I share my name with my offspring.’” I had no idea how significant it would be to me, but saying, ‘This is our family name, our small family name,’ meant a lot.”
Many people are unhappy that Archie and Lili’s names were changed from Mountbatten-Windsor to Sussex.
“Rather than rebranding, I’d want to see them really do anything. “It’s all spin and quite sad,” one individual said. “For someone who sought to walk away from the royal family, he seemed to want a foot in both camps,” another said.
“These 2 would do everything to be in the spotlight; they are utter hypocrites.

“For a couple that wanted to be out of the spotlight, they definitely do a terrific job of remaining in it,” a third person said.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle recently renamed their website Sussex.com.
They feel that the new name will “unite” their family.
