We often hear that love knows no bounds — and sometimes, we witness a moving example of this. A photo of an elderly Chinese couple holding hands in a hospital has touched millions.
Feng Ming, 92, was admitted to the ICU at Yinzhou Hospital in Zhejiang due to heart failure. His condition deteriorated, and he could no longer speak. His last wish was to see his wife, Zhang Ping, who was being treated in the same hospital for a hip fracture.
Devoted couple: Mr. Feng’s final wish was to see his wife of 66 years before dying. The couple had previously been pictured enjoying their retirement.
The head nurse, Wang Yanfang, arranged a special visit outside of regular hours. Zhang was brought on a stretcher to the ICU. She held her husband’s hand and said:
“Don’t worry about me. I’ll manage on my own.”
Lasting love: Mr. and Mrs. Feng had been married for 66 years. Above is a photo of the couple in their youth.
With tears in his eyes, Feng listened to her words. A few hours later, he passed away peacefully. This photo has become a symbol of true love.
